Very interesting in it retains Auslese sweetness, yet finishes distinctly dry. It was very controversial at the dinner table. I personally found it outstanding.

At the elemental level there is a kinship across Rieslings from different countries, crafted by different means, with different goals. Over time they converge, revealing the base structure, aromas and flavors that are the core of Riesling. As I was drinking this Koehler Ruprecht I had vivid memories of 1990 Trimbach CFE and a 1992 Dönnhoff Hermannshohle shared with friends many years ago. The core of the wines was the same. It was essence of Riesling. Magic.

Really loved this tonight! Lots of dried tropical fruit, some spices, dried honey, surprisingly big mouthfeel that gripping yet fresh and energetic, long finish too, don’t think my note did this justice!

Amber golden color. Quite developed. Nose: White tobacco, lovage. Palate: Slightly oxidative, black tea, cimquats, toast, hazelnuts, mediim finish

100% oxidized/shot. Cork looked OK. Same source as the other bottle I opened several months back.
