My first encounter with this bottling, and it was an imperfect specimen, fairly advanced, dark gold/almost amber in appearance (possibly poor storage?). Nonetheless, there was plenty to like. Rich gingered fruit, a touch candied. There was some faint oxidation and nuttiness, and the acid was less than desired at this stage.

Light golden. A bit oily, and surprisingly, somewhat reminiscent of a White Rhône. The balance was good, and it has decent acidity. But for the money, we prefer most of the vineyard designated Chardonnays from Rhys. Consistent results, with some fading of backbone, over three nights.

Great example of a young California Chardonnay, drinking beautifully at 5 years. Excellent balance with firm but not excessive acidity make it a very good match with food (baked salmon filet this time) as well as on its own.

Lovely wine, maturing nicely, though still quite lively - definitely more life here. Ah, the nose, the nose, the nose . . . .

A CA chard that didn't get ruined with the CA style. The true character of chardonnay comes through on this wine. Clean and crisp. Great with food.
