Harvest Celebration (Byfield, MA): Tasted from magnum. Beautiful garnet color. Nose of black cherry, kirsh with an earthy background. Palate of black cherry, earth and a hint of mushroom. Good acidity. Soft sweet tannins. This is drinking well at this time.

Nice pinot like, almost transparent, color. Mature nose of cherries, orange marmalade (a bit musty). Some floral elements and cola poke trough after 1 hour. Nice structure with cherries and orange good acidity spicy mid palate and medium length finish with very mild-resolved tannins. There is some slight component that I cannot figure out that bothers me a bit. Very nice, complex wine, possibly just past its peak... Surprisingly next day it showed some animal notes and slight smoke, and it was even smoother with more spice on the mid-palate and finish. Very good wine and interesting experience. 90++

Beautiful, deep red color - it makes me think of what liquid black cherries would look like; but with enough transparency that the red comes through. Amazingly, the nose is still tight but there is some earth (dirt, straw, hints of stone and grass) and some fruit (perhaps cherry or some berry). So smooth and balanced in the mouth but it does fill your mouth (or coat it) like other wines. More earth and fruit - this time with some mushroom flavor. Oddly kind of thin; which is not necessarily a negative - this wine is about structure, balance and finesse (not "new world" power). The finish is OK; I'd like it to be a bit better but I'm picking to find flaws here. This is my first wine from the Sleeply Hallow vineyard but I now have an idea why it is so revered.

Skinner Fine Wine Auction Reception (Boston, MA): Skinner auction reception. Tasted from magnum. Beautiful garnet color. Nose of black cherry, kirsh with an earthy background. Palate of black cherry, earth and a hint of mushroom. Soft sweet tannins. This wine was sooo smooth, utterly delicious and I have to agree with one of the reviewers below that it was certainly one of the best New World pinots I've ever tasted. It was the surprise of the evening as it was served away from the crowd and was not part of the lots. All the better...Ben and I went back for seconds! It makes me realize that many of us drink our New World pinots too early.
