My husband opened this last Friday. I am sure it was fine, but I wasn't here to taste it. He pumped it with Vacuvin, and we drank it today. Slightly oxidized. Advice: drink it up in one night. Don't save this one.
PnP out of cool storage. Initial funk and dark fruit on the nose. Funk blowing off fairly quickly. Blackberry, perhaps some boysenberry, and some vegetable notes on the palate and nose with some sweetness, tannin and a bit of heat at the finish. Might need some food as a complement. Definite dirt on the palate. Color is deep purple fading a bit towards garnet on the edge.
Let stand for about 20 minutes before sampling. Lush plum and blackberry aromas initially. Drank with stir fried beef and vegetables. As the wine sat in the glass some green leaf, coffee and chocolate aromas start to show. This is much more balanced and enjoyable from a bottle consumed about 10 months ago. Color is fairly deep purple at the center with not much fade to the rim. Some soft cherry and blueberry aromas. No unpleasant volatiles and no hot alcohol coming off.
