  • Better than my first bottle... maybe I should buy some more. Nice and vibrant, good balance.

  • A Total Wine direct import (like most wines at Total Wine). For the price it's an enjoyable drink, and this was a vintage of high temperatures so it's ready to drink. So open knit and fleshy, I didn't find it intriguing. Maybe some more time will do it good, let all that fruit settle down.

  • Great nose of violet, wild cherry, tar and cedar. Medium bodied with a smooth texture and firm tannins. It has sour cherry upfront with a hint of oak and spice in the mid and a cocoa powder finish.

  • Pop and pour. Initial reactions...spicy herbs, salty meat, menthol, shoe leather, blood from red meat, dark black cherries. Initial palate subdued but yet experssion fruit of cherries, dark chocolate. Think it needs more air time so I will reserve score until after dinner. So far struggling for a 92...more like 90. Back soon.

With dinner, ok, 1 hour later the wine smoothed but was still somewhat muted in aromatics. Flavor profile was enhanced. I can't really tell the future of this wine but it may improve I just don't know. Still very nice, don't like 14.5 ABV and usually it is more balanced in European wines than California but this wine showed the alcohol.

  • The nose was pretty and floral with red fruit tones and a menthol lift. On the palate, juicy, ripe red berries turned tart yet stayed pure and focused in a more feminine style. The finish rounded things out with lasting notes of bitter cherry and inner florals.
