  • First of six. Bottle opened just at lunch. Only decanted last quarter because fine-grained sediments. Cork in a perfect shape. All Rioja is about on the nose with notes of flesh, cinnamon, thyme, mahogany, leather, red berries, clove, ... and, once again, total absence of coconut and dill. On the palate is really softie, wide, silky texture, medium-bodied wine, sharp acidity, quite long and beautiful finish. Still way to go. I'm happy somebody who consider himself as a kind of elite of drinkers had no f#cking idea what he was talking in public about this wine seven years ago.
If you questioned why GR must be open at least when they're fifteen years old this is the reason even in smooth style like Remelluri.

  • Very modern but pleasing red. Good Body , more fruits than herbal, but nice drink. A bit to international.

  • Wines from the HDH Auction (Tru, Chicago IL): Nose: The nose is aromatic with dark red cherries, smoke notes, licorice, coffee, vanilla beans, and strawberries. There is good depth and class here with the nose still favoring a primary side.

Taste: Medium/full bodied with medium+ tannins and medium+ acidity. The structure is still quite youthful with the tannins having a chewiness to them along with dark red cherries, smoke notes, licorice, and vanilla beans.

Overall: While this is drinking now, it feels like it needs more time to really show itself. There is good depth and balance with a dark red fruited base.

  • Rose hip and fresh chopped young wood. Good, fresh black fruit but tannic palate. A little too present oak but a good wine.

  • Deep dark french-oaked Rioja. Could do with a little more vitality, veers pretty close to over-ripeness, the alcohol isn't obtrusive, it's just that it hints it might turn prune-like.

I'd drink now to be on the safe side.

13.5% ABV. Sealed with cork of course.
