Steve's 60th (Roswell, GA): Ruby to rim, looks young; sexy rose, noble, good new French oak, rich, structured, young, limestone; delicious, young, sexy, nice structure for future aging, elegant, fatter but still delicate; needed to be served a touch cooler but this is a rock star wine.
Friday Night Double Blind Tasting $40+ (Bin 75): Darker maroon core that's see through with lighter rim; sweet and tart fruit on the nose, darker berry, young and sweet, white rock, raspberry, sour dark cherry, violets, natural spice; silky palate, some latent tannin, raspberry, very mineral, great mid palate nobility; awesome, 93+.
Very dark in colour. Cherry, Asian spice, and a little menthol on the nose. Somewhat subdued fruit up front and a little hollow in the mid-palate. Nice profile but wound a little tight at present. Long finish.
Dark ruby with light rim; pretty nose of roses, spicy, tart red berry; cranberry, tart cherry, pomegranate, raspberry, almost a black tea component, good midpalate, nice lift but firm tannin; more masculine since last tasting- good potential for aging but may go into hibernation soon. 92+
Purple color; floral, tart, plump red and dark fruit on the nose; grapey, plum, velvet, and some baking spices on the palate with good minerality on the finish. Young and elegant. Seems to be destemmed fruit.
