Is it just very mature with lots of sous bois? Or is this a little corked too? Cinnamon. Medium dry tannin, still sweetness of fruit on the palate. Sous bois, some spice, leather. Wants some drops for sure. I’ll defer to others when they get here on this being corked. Probably is.

Drunk over a family Sunday lunch. No TN, from memory. Opened the evening before and slow-ox'ed over ~18 hours. Fully mature, but with plenty of fruit still, it had that wonderful silkiness you get only in wines which aged well. A harmony, a sense of depth of flavor which makes attempts at describing it almost meaningless. Stunning and one of the best aged Nebbiolo-based wines I have ever drunk.

Much darker color than the 2012 or 2000 Gaiun. Truffle and earth aromas at pop and pour. Focused dark red fruit aromas. Dark cherry with a tart edge. Holy s***, lots of character at PnP. Bright and upright. At the end of the night. Lots of sediment. Really plays into then balsamic note. Almost the same body as the 2000, but darker color.

Showing appropriately for a fully mature Barbaresco from a good vintage, but one that often comes across now as a little tired. Deep tobacco and olive smoke, dried sage notes, red berry fruit, resolved tannin, moderately structured. Would have been better a decade ago, but still a pleasure to drink.

(Tenute Cisa Asinari dei Marchesi di Grésy Barbaresco Martinenga Gaiun) Bricking medium red violet color; restrained, tart cherry, sandalwood, cedar nose, that begins to open after 40 minutes in the glass; restrained, tart cherry, tart strawberry, sandalwood, light brett palate; medium-plus finish
