Superb, possibly the wine of the night or just exactly to my preferences in a big, big line up. Perfect example of 1990. Open, forward, bright ripe red cherry. Clean, pure. A certain exuberance. See 11/1/2021 note. Some company, and I believe the same bottle source.

Epitome / reference Rouget / Jayer. Pure sweet red cherry and gorgeous spice. In a flight with ‘90 Beaumonts and ‘90 Echezeaux and this was my favourite, even though all three were insanely perfect bottles. The purity here is unbelievable. Sweet, candied red cherry, tingling spice. Beaumonts maybe has more of the spice, Cros P is the freshest and brightest red, Echezeaux sort of splits the difference and has more texture. Big projection off the nose that is as good as wine gets. Open, forward, accessible, but still detailed and cerebral, especially the Parantoux. Ethereal but bright and powerful. Among the best showing flights of red Burgundy I’ve ever experienced. Breathtakingly beautiful, every bit as spectacular as the ’90 Jayer Cros Parantoux on Thursday. Thank you to the most generous collector of all time for continuing to share these absolute gems.

Thankfully there comes a time when you suddenly pause for a moment and realise you are tasting greatness, a true wine legend that will outlive us all.
Served blind, this was clearly something special. The nose screamed 90s burgundy but the palate remained so fresh with bright cherries and red fruit. The nose had wonderful savoury notes with biscuits, bread and some marzipan. A mature wine in many ways, but yet has so much life ahead of it. Perfect balance, crisp acidity, and nothing out of place. The finish lasted forever.
An absolute treat to try and one of the all time classics. With BV and wives.

Jayer dinner. Flight with 90 Rouget Echezeaux, 90 Meo CP and 90 Jayer CP.
Appealing elegance, best wine of flight. There was a leanness that AM attributed to volatile acidity, which created linearity I enjoyed. Certainly more energy and purity than 90 Rouget Echezeaux.
