In a tasting of 12 wines, all of the 1982 vintage tasted blind and remnants re-tasted the next day. I cannot describe how elated I was at the showing of this wine, which I put in the line-up at the last minute (no decanting) after a Petrus was corked. My comments would therefore have a touch of prejudice (since this was not blind to me). So here are the comments of 2 others instead. "Equally outstanding (after Mouton), fabulous, best of the night (so far)", " First Growth perhaps Cheval Blanc". All others agreed it was special but hedged on whether it was the best so far. I thought it was silky, smooth, medium bodied, deliciously underpinned by acidity and completely resolved . Not the best of the line-up, though but a brilliant showing for this wine, as always in this vintage ****

From .375 as a $25 experiment from spectrum. Fill was mid-shoulder, capsule was perfect, showing no signs of seepage. The wine was slightly oxidized, but came together with time in the glass. Obvious bricking, with red fruits showing. Absolutely no tannins, and the slight raisin of the oxidation showing. Still a pleasure to drink, and a fun experiment!

Cork looked great, very saturated but concentrated on the bottom. Color was nice, light garnet, no bricking. The boquet had all the usual Bordeaux suspects (barnyard, cedar, lead), but I was slightly surprised at the presence of some bright red fruits, raspberry; also a bit of anise as it opened. The palate had a nice little spice to it mid-palate, and the tannins were completely gone. What dominated this wine was (back to the red fruits) the acid. It had a Barbera-like quality, very sour cherry. Popped and poured 1 glass, drank a second about 3 hours later. Not much of a change, the acid was still extreme, and in the 2nd glass I started to pick up a little brett (very slight). Nice bottle, too acidic for my taste at this point. $45 on winebid, made for a nice experiment.

Have drunk my way through a case over the last three years, and this wine is a good now as it was then, no signs of fading. nice classic bordeaux features from a good vintage.
