I like my reds big with lots of personality, but subtle sophistication wins out in my sparkling wine preferences - The 2005 Le Premier easily makes the list.
Le Premier is a European style sparkling wine, meaning fruit is de-emphasized, with a nutty crispness taking center stage. Not to mislead, the fruit is certainly present, but is a supporting character, not a flashy distraction. Highly recommended, and for under $30, you'll be hard-pressed to find a better bubbly in this price category.
