Lunch at Nicolas / Drinks at Joyce's (Nicolas Restaurant, Teck Lim Street, Singapore): It has been almost 7 years since I last had this, and it remains a rather backward bottle - really tight for a 2011 village. It had a nice nose, with notes of earth and meat, black cherries and dark berries, and a thick whiff of violets and peppery spice running behind. Rich and masculine aromas. The palate was quite a bit behind the nose unfortunately. Still very much marked its structure of firm tannins and bright acidity, the black cherry fruit expression here felt a little less pronounced, a little quiet, a touch lean almost, before the wine traced its way into a minerally finish. Not a bad wine for sure, with a decent balance and purity, but this was not giving all that much pleasure at the moment. In fact, I thought the bottle I had way back in 2015 was a tad more enjoyable. Solid enough, but in a sleepy state - I would lay this aside for another 3-4 years to see how it goes.

Très bien, prêt a boire. Puissant, beaux fruits noir et nez un peu forestier. D'accord avec commentaire de Mazy, maintenant rendu trop cher pour cette appellation, dommage.

Beautiful, silky and light in its feet. But there is good concentration and intensity lurking beneath. Very much cherry driven fruits rather than red berries.

Silky sultry mouth feel, bordering dark cherries and stone fruits. Detected a floral note as well, very much welcome on both the nose and tongue.
