Monthly Tasting Group HWS #097; Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2007 vs 2009 (By RvD): Garnet orange brown. The bouquet is very tertiary with rust. tea, coffee, laurel and forest floor. On the palate the same impressions plus mushrooms and cinnamon. The wine is still medium to full bodied with ok acidity and a bit drying tannin in the finish. Still drinkable, but in fact too old. No score.

Tasted at the domaine. Wide open on the nose, with dark fruit, sous-bois, meat, anise. On the palate, broad flavors of cola, iron / blood / meat, and dusty, dark fruit. In the zone at the moment - with strong secondary components yet possessing a solid core of fruit.
