Completely gorgeous. A perfect example of Meo and of Aux Brulees. This bottle is especially bright and lifted and forward. Impressively bright red and clear in the glass (normally Meo is darker in colour and has a muddled appearance) Tons of the specific Vosne spice. Red cherry. An example of how 1990 can be total perfection. Brilliant. Every bit as good and very similar to 1990 Rouget Cros Parantoux the other night. A certain exuberance. Exactly to my style / preference.

I am very biased towards older Meo's, maybe because I never tried a Jayer and there is a high chance he was involved in this vintage, possibly his last, with the domaine, but really because I think the wines are outstanding. The older Meo's have a distinct iron character that drives the overall profile but with this (the Brulees), I got a bit more Vosne elegance and spice. Acidity on the palate also a touch higher than the more recent wines. Again, this alluring combination of power without being too big.

An excellent showing with herbs, stems, black fruit, earth, funk and minerals. Palate was wide open and expressive with layers of fruit, meat and herbs. Drinking at its peak. 94+

From magnum. This was the WOTN against some very stiff competition of Jayer and Rouget. Great nose of pure red fruit, tangy minerality, some nuts, black fruits, hints of charcoal. Great spice notes and mesmerizing complexity. Utterly fantastic right now. Reminded me very much of of the 01 Jayer Cros P - very similar in style and finesse.
