Took about an hour to open up and show earthy strawberry and tart cherry flavors. Lovely rose-tinged aromas and bright acidity make the wine a good match for a rich goose ragout and pasta. Second day, wine has lost fruit and has faded. Drink in the near term.

Inexpensive White Burgundy Tasting (Pacifica, CA): Light ruby, no bricking; highly aromatic, rich red fruits, complex spice; palate is light and medium bodied, youthful red fruit, medium-plus acid, lovely texture; finish is medium-plus. This is really nice. 91-93

Medium red color - no sediment. Notes getting bad here. Sweet cherry, cherry, menthol on nose & palate. Medium body, high acids & noticeable tannins. Long finish. 91-92 range.
This one threw me - I figured very young Barolo given fruit & tannic profile. Brightness of fruit should have given this away. By far the most tannic Pinot I have had, but with hindsight, the intensity of the fruit & the lightness of the tannins (relative to what you get with Nebbiolo) should have given this away. The one industry guy with us nailed this as an '11 or '12 Pommard.
Nice wine and the only Burgundy in the line-up.

Expected this Pommard to be rather closed off considering its youth but it turned out to be surprisingly accessible. There is a significant amount of depth here with a good amount of forest floor alongside pleasant of fresh red fruits, likely due to its youth. A very well-made, enjoyable Pommard that certainly has the makings for something even better with time.
