Mid ruby to full garnet. Initaially quite savoury with a hint of 11, but this lifts to show a nicely earthy nose cut through with iron. Super density on the palate, really impressive for a village wine, a fine velvet, fully resolved and with real presence, the strawberry and redcurrant fruit coming through as a topnote on the finish. Really, really lovely. Just village-level complexity preventing it from hitting the real heights. ****

Mid ruby. Fragrant nose, meaty, earthy and a little darker and firmer than a bottle two weeks ago, the strawberry and redcurrant fruit less obvious and a little more of a hint of the vintage. Similarly smooth and silky textured on the finish with impressive density for its level. Shows some complexity and early maturity. ***1/2

First look at this. Bright mid ruby. Fragrant nose, meaty, earthy but all cut through by a good core of strawberry and redcurrant fruit. Smooth, silky textured, no vintage taint. Just starting to get goin* and show some complexity and early maturity. ****

Delicious Burgundy. And it’s absolutely representative of its terroir, a fine Gevrey-Chambertin with mushrooms and forest floor on the nose, some nice earthy fruit on the mid palate with secondary notes beginning to appear, and mouthwatering acidity on the finish. I have enjoyed Alexandrine Roy’s wines when young, but this shows that her wines evolve well with time.

Light ruby. Very pretty and supple strawberry fruit without the firmer tannins of the Roty Marsannay. This had little of the greener tones I noted when I last tasted this and is really quite lovely now.
