  • This is fairly old-school Chardonnay from the heart of the Old World, heavy on the orchard fruit, pear but especially apple, fruity but without excessive New World juiciness. Actually, it tastes like light apple cider, with additional notes of nuts and white pepper, which is fine as an uncomplicated sipper or easy complement to lighter food. Unfortunately, there's an odd floral (or something -- it's not entirely clear, but it could be a trace of bottle flaw) element that creeps in at the back of the palate, adding depth but also a certain unpleasantness to what is otherwise a generally pleasant, if fairly simple, Chardonnay.
