I needed a bottle of zinfandel to slow braise some short ribs. Glad I snitched out a small glass to drink. Beautiful dark ruby red with an intense dark raspberry bouquet, the fruit flavor was reminded me of raspberry snaps with a bit of chocolate. The short ribs will done in an hour or so and they smell fantastic!

Ninety-something... This has aged remarkably well, and it ain't gonna die anytime over the next two years! Has opened up perfectly over 90 minutes. There was some very fine sediment (1/8 teaspoon worth) stuck to the side of the bottle afterwards. Wish I had / could get more!

As I age each time I get my offer from Williams Selyem I wonder if I should continue to buy $2500+ worth of wine twice a year. But, when I open a bottle like this one, the answer is abundantly clear: wowsa!!
Paper filtered and decanted leaving a reasonable dusting of dark sedimentary material in the filter and yielding a beautiful, dark red liquor with odors of raspberries and an almost honeyed aroma. This wine was explosive on the palate with flavors of cinnamon and cloves and lingering notes of honey and red fruits galore. The underlying acidity was terrific and added layers and layers of flavor to the finish -- which lasted at least five minutes when I could resist taking another sip for that long. This was more like a high end burgundy than Zin on my palate, but, it was one terrific wine and I'm sad it was my only bottle.

Out-freaking-standing. A pinnacle of mature Zin with that bramble still intact.
