Medium-dark garnet color. Fantastic aromatics- Gorgonzola cheese, fresh basil and an herbaceous scent of pine needles. The palate tastes very young with tart red berry flavors and a reprise of the herbal nose. This has a long finish, with elegant but abundant tannins capable of supporting several decades of maturation. This is the level of quality on which this producer's well-justified reputation is built, at a much more accessible price than the Marquee wines. I would seek this out again.
Vindredi (Bellevue, WA): Tasted blind. I was not a fan of this in our lineup, at least compared to the others we tasted against it. It came across as funky on the nose, and thin and tart on the body. Perhaps a bad bottle?
