  • Sweet red fruit, cherry, strawberry, lavender, herbs. I liked this better then Jen did. Not bad with the pork sausage with fennel and pretty good with the ravioli with burrata and the ravioli with Kobe beef.

    Perhaps better with Indian food.

    Drink now.

  • PnP on day 1 with chicken and Spanish rice. Vacuvin overnight, tasting notes are from day 2. Deep, dark plum to garnet in the glass. Bricking at the edges and visibly transparent during the pour. Nose of plum, leather, blackcurrant, star anise and patchouli. Secondary nose of strawberry confiture, graphite and camphor. Front palate has a sweet-hot feel like fire jolly ranchers. Jammy and round lush fruit through the mid palate. Preserved or baked fruits, though, as freshness is gone. Back end has very fine tannins that balance with the jam, each alternating like sensory strobe lights at an all night dance party in Ibiza. Finish is long, with tannins like silky sinew being pulled through a hot blueberry pie spiked with eau de vie. Surprisingly no loss of fruit forward goodness. Lost a little something from day 1 tasting, feels like the bouquet and structure from day 1 gave way to a berry full moon high-tide.

  • Horribly, horribly corked.

  • PnP with homemade pizza. light garnet in color with some bricking and edge goes nearly clear. translucent and clean in the glass. butterscotch and vanilla on the nose, crushed herbs, lavender and sagebrush. a little cocoa and baking spice. nice fruit, mostly blackberry, plum and cooked blueberry. tannins come in the mid-palate and stay through a long finish that shows signs of past heat, as if from a day-old fire that is now just coals and ash. Tannins give way to deep dark fruit and cedar on the back palate, and the fireworks fade into the night sky. But what a show it was. Nicely done, Ketch.
