Cellared since release. It took a long time for this great wine to mature, but it is there now with the dark plum fruit and the wildness of its Richebourg neighbor but a little more finesse in the mouth. Just great.
Charlie Trotter's Farewell Dinner with Montrachet, Brulees and Cros Parantoux (Charlie Trotter's, Chicago IL): Opened 30 mintues before serving, but unfortunately not decanted. At first a little aromatically shut down, but you could see the immense power. A bit of swirling uncovered dark, briary berries and bing cherry with earth notes and very dark spice. Almost meaty. Very densely packed fruit and spice on the structured palate. An almost chewy character. Powerful, gripping finish. This wine kept getting better and better all evening long. I really need some of these in the cellar...
Another Final Dinner at Charlie Trotter's with "Guests" Henri Jayer, Meo-Camuzet and Rouget (Charlie Trotter's - Chicago IL): Best wine in tonight's Brulees flight. Open 30 minutes before serving, I wish this had been decanted because it kept improving for the 3 hours it was in my glass. Shut down aromatically to start, the nose evolved into a wine showing dark black cherry and meaty spice. Great flavors from start to finish, with lots of black cherry and blackberry that are well supported with great spice. Lots of big, but elegant tannins and also lots of acidity help provide a great structural backbone. This wine will last for a long time.

(Meo-Camuzet Vosne Romanee Les Brulees) A magnum of 1993 Meo-Camuzet Vosne Romanee Les Brulees was hanging out on The Dons table, and he made me an offer I couldnt refuse. The greatness of the 1993 vintage was quickly apparent with its sturdy backbone and definitive tannin flavors. There was still dark plum fruit to this long and stylish wine, with pinches of vitamins, stems and deeper, purpler hues
