A wonderful effort from Domaine Zind-Humbrecht. The 2011 Brand VV delivers the typical rich apricot, mango, honey melon and tangerine tones combined with beeswax and subtle lemon curd. There are some minerals to be found, given a good hour or so in the glass. Acidity is present and balanced. The palate follows through in the same classy way with a very nice integration, perfect structure and just enough length on the finish to push the effort into something I would very much like to taste again. Having said this, yes this is a lovely wine and it shows how wines from this region may actually behave if they are "good". The fat, sweet flabbiness experienced in the lower range Alsace rieslings is totally absent in this wine. Instead there is rich exotic fruit and intriguing complexity. I wish all wines from Alsace behaved like this!
