PnP which was a mistake. Upon opening the wine was very agressive with much vegetable, green bell pepper (which I don't like) and earthy like aromas such as mushrooms (which is very much appreciated). Oak treatment was also overwhelming with much toasted notes and vanilla. A whole bottle of this was too much for two at a night so we left half of the wine to try the next night. Day 2 we did a quick decanting (20 minutes) and it was much better (the 90 pts is the score of day 2 actually) showing more fruit and balance. Having drank the 2006 in 2014 and loved it I can assure this is way too young. You could try decanting for over an hour but it is better to revisit after two years at least.
Nice varietal, with good balance and structure. Strong nose of bell and black pepper (a bit boring), along with red berries and vanilla. Round in all aspects, great mouth feel, with nice texture of red fruit and spices taking over the whole palate, finishing savory with a hint of tobacco. Not as complex as expected, but a good effort from Pulenta. 89
