  • WB DC Offline - Mostly Napa (Bistrot Lepic): Medium garnet. Barnyard and tobacco box on the nose. On the palate medium acidity, medium alcohol, medium body, candied cranberries and forest floor. Long finish. Light on the palate but well balanced. Still drinking incredibly well for a 45+ year old wine. Still has some life but drink up.

  • Stood this wine up for about a month. Needed the Durand to get this moldy, wet cork out in one piece. Wine is alive! Love that beautifully aged color. Definitely smells old. Notes of tart berries, leather, and ash. It has the most faint tannins. It’s so light on the palate, esp at 12% alc, that it reminds me of a 1974 domestic Pinot I had not too long ago. A Cab from a different time, for sure. Really fun bottle.

  • This was a real treat and the reason it is worth a trip to Bern’s. An impeccably stored 1977 in a pristine bottle, still hanging on to a bit of life. Mature fruit flavors, some pencil lead and graphite, a nose that you could just sniff all night. As Mark referenced, this was much better alone versus with our steak. The steak just overpowered it but we really enjoyed before and after!!

  • Great choice by the Somm with tonight's meal at Bern's and enjoyed by Jen and me (primarily!)......this '77 has aged perfectly. There is moderate fruit, clean lines of acidity and cedar. Nice cherry fruit.....a hint of raisin/prune. Weak in trying to compliment a Delmonico steak but nonetheless a very nice wine for those of us who appreciate a gracefully aged Napa cabernet.

  • deep ruby color, no bricking. nose was full of ripe red fruits, more than a hint of an herbal character but not that distinctive. med- acid, any tannin that was there is long gone. mellow, in general, with very leafy green flavors of tobacco and oregano. short finish. not especially expressive however i did have a substantially stuffed up nose this night (so sad). seemed a good, if not very good, wine at this stage.
