  • Drank for Chris's birthday.

Very tertiary, obviously, but still has a lot to say. Blackberries and blueberries are still hanging on. Other than that, it's old leather, chamomile tea, tobacco, mushrooms, and dried chili pepper. Think of old books: this wine smells like walking into a historic library somewhere in New England. Some acid is still there, tannins are resolved. The beautiful structure helped this last.

  • Purchased an apparently well-stored bottle this year to celebrate a family member’s 40th birthday. Double decanted to take care of cork (mostly removed in one piece) and sediment at 11AM and reopened around 7 PM. Vigorous dark brownish red color. Nose of tobacco and leather. Palate also of tobacco, leather and mellow red fruit. The flavor kept opening up throughout the two hours or so of dinner. This was an immensely enjoyable if not profound aged Bordeaux. Very Good to Excellent.

  • Brutal acidity in the beginning but mellows out with air, warm nose, porcini, cedar wood, not bad

Very lifely, soft nose, light fruit
