Purchased from a cellar where it was bought on release and kept at 50 degrees ever since. Initially I planned to pop and pour it, but when I poured a taste, it was clear it needed to time in a decanted. After 30-45 minutes it started to open up with aromatics of red currant and cranberry with leather, cedar and some tobacco leaf. Nice fruit on the palate as well. Medium bodied with a moderate finish. Well balanced with nice acidity. There was still a little bit of grip on the finish. White I can't see this getting better, these particular bottles do have quite a bit of time left on them.
Still on the young side, I would say five more years for optimum, and perhaps then some. Cordier bottle funk, but not excessive. Classic Gruaud elements of meat, leather. Tannins still fairly strong but this is in good balance. Opened at the end of the evening and it was all gone before I had a chance to really reflect. But it was a nice bottle.
