One of a pair bought soon after release and stored in a wine fridge. The 86 cos with the same provenance was superb last year. The other 86 HB drunk 10 years ago scored a massive 99 points and I thought the wine was at perfect maturity then. This bottle was in immaculate condition with a nose of violets and blackcurrant, integrated palate and very good length. It was a little thin, tired and oxidised though. I'm sure other bottles will be superb and it just shows how risky old wines are.
Mostly Bordeaux dinner with Bob (Magdalena restaurant at the Ivy Hotel, Baltimore): Beautiful fully mature nose displaying soft red fruits, wet tobacco, leather, caramel and mineral. Medium concentration, silky and seamless, soft and warm red fruit driven palate impression, soft tannins and lovely long red fruit driven finish. Much more ready to go then the Lafite and Mouton. A classic HB, A classic grave that is drinking incredibly well.
Decanted for around 1,5 hour. Rich, generous, developed nose with notes of black currants and tobacco. Developed and complex in the mouth, with smooth tannins and very good fruit. Notes of cigar box, black currants and some minerality. Very good length!
This is showing very good today, but with the massive concentration, this will probably continue to develop well for at least 10-15 years more. No hurry here!

(Haut-Brion) This Haut Brion lived up to it's reputation of the funk in a glass. Mushrooms and loads of tobacco with tons of cassis and gorgeous minerality. Super intense nose. Really comes out of the glass roaring. This is my favorite Haut-Brion ever because if it's very distinctive personality.
