Double Blind Tasting w/ DC Crew (Weygandt Wines - Washington, D.C.): Light ruby color. Smoky and wild on the nose, yet light and crisp, with red apple peel and strawberries. Tart, fresh, silky, tart red berries mix with notes of rocks, graphite and smoke. The tart acid and firm tannins had me (and a more than a couple other tasters) thinking this was a Nebbiolo.

Lighter in color. Attractive red fruit nose, but not much character or flavors on palate. Agreeable, just not special. Had at Annie Gunn's in Chesterfield, MO

Note from a tasting event: Very mellow nose, hard to pick it up being surrounded by food and other wines. The palate though shows some of the things I really like about EW. Dark, youthful, fruit flavors start with no richness and proceed into some clay, leather and a bit of wood. The tannins are a touch rough currently, the acids are on the higher side of things but balance up as the wine finishes. Overall really enjoyable. 88+
