First of my LV '12s. Decanted about 2 hours then back into the bottle to take to the restaurant for tonight's meal with J & D.
Exceptional nose upon cork removal at the restaurant. The nose is equal to or better than the palate. Dark ruby color in the glass. 2 hour decant was perfect. There's perfume and red fruit and gentle spice on the nose. Palate of balanced, classy red fruit with roses and plumeria? Hint of silky red velour like berries, with class and integration throughout. Nice balance then. Later in the evening, last glass at room temp and it's much darker fruit, very black. Nose of blueberries and black berries, palate of slightly tart/astringent fruit indicating that this one, too....is too young for this much air. Drink these the first few hours now or wait a few years before opening your next bottle. 96 is a starting point with this one.

Great bottle of wine that was graciously poured by Mark at our delicious dinner at Chops in Naples, deep ruby, dark fruit, med/firm tannins, long finish; outstanding but just starting to drink, drink or preferably hold for another year or 2
Open that bottle - Jason chooses 2012 Chateau La Violette: See "ID RATHER..." for treatment. Sweet red fruit, graphite, and yes violets. Almost purplish fruit. Lots of fruit and also lots of Bordeaux qualities. So elegant, you can tell its a Pomerol. Well done.
This was drinking remarkably well! I previously had a 2008, and loved it, so I wanted to see how a younger vintage would taste. The 2012 did not disappoint! Plenty of fruit, violets and some forest floor showing with hints of anise, chocolate, tar and leather. Still pretty fruit forward, but fun to follow over an hour or two. Developed more complexity as time went on. I would recommend a 1-2 hour decant if drinking soon, or another couple years in the cellar to allow it to integrate even more. Still absolutely delicious and a joy to drink now, but could tell it is still not at the apex. 95+ to 96 now, and should get better.
nose: aromas of leather, earth palate: smooth, great integration of fruit and secondary characteristics. kept evolving over the course of 2 hours. excellent

Open THAT Bottle - Not That One...THAT One! (Dan's House): Prep: Stood upright for 3 hours, then a splash decant to remove sediment (there wasn't much until some fine sediment at the very bottom of the bottle)
