After cutting the capsule, the exposed top of the cork looked like the offspring of gray putty and a Kombucha mother. I seriously thought it was going to start moving or talking or worse. Never judge a book by its cover. Brick red, with brick orange rim, thinning out at the edge. Musty, mature, dank aromas blew off and gave way to a bouquet of fresh and dried cherries, earth and eucalyptus, mushrooms and herbs, and touches of leather and peppermint. This was smooth, balanced, polished, and well integrated, with lots of cherries, dried red currants, dried rose petals, a broad mid-palate, and a hint of mushrooms on the long, cherry finish. It had an exuberant edge and a timelessness that is often missing in older wines. Drinking this was like rocking a 39-year-old leather jacket you recently found at a thrift store that never went out of style. Made me want to pop that collar.

Drinking exceptionally well for 39 years old. Slight hints of dill on the nose and subtle spices and sour fruits on the palate with a long finish.
