This note is being written a few days after consumption when normally I would not bother, but since I liked this wine considerably more than the average reviewer, I can't help speaking out in its favor. On the one hand I agree that it is not terribly sophisticated and won't make very old bones; but at the same time, when I drank it it had beautiful aromas and flavors of bright red fruits (red currants & strawberries especially) with a hint of oranges, with gently piercing acidity and overall a lovely sense of balance and harmony, great with food and without. The richness and extraction that marks some Planeta wines was absent here, at least to my palate; the wine was not so far off from a (ripe, modern) excellent Burgundy villages or solid 1er. Admittedly I am pretty new to DOCG Cerasuolo di Vittoria, but after this wine I want to discover more.

Always tasty. Bright fruit - strawberry and raspberries on the front palate. Great acid. Stony backbone with a hint of ashy minerality. Southern style fruit to be sure.

WSET Level 4 Course - WSET School; 9/6/2014-5/23/2015 (WSET School, Bermondsey): Appearance: The wine is Clear with a Medium ruby colour. Nose: The nose is Clean and Youthful, showing Medium intensity primary aromas of raspberry, strawberry, lavender and tertiary aromas of mushroom. Palate: The wine is Dry in the mouth with a Medium(+) level of acidity. It has Medium(-) tannins and a Medium Level of alcohol (13.00%). It has Medium body and Medium intensity primary flavours of lavender, raspberry, strawberry and tertiary flavours of mushroom. The finish is Medium(+). Fresh, pleasant, fruity quite light Overall: Fresh, pleasant, fruity quite light. Not complex, intense or long. Conclusion: It is a Good quality wine. Drink Now; not suitable for Ageing or Further Ageing Doesn't have the structure for ageing. The attraction is the ligh, fresh primary character that will fade with ageing; Medium priced (£10.79)

Interesting nose showing dried Mediterranean fruits, candied fig preserves, dates, and olive notes. Slightly biting, but with very good grip and a substantive, rock and mineral driven finish. 88-89.

No formal notes. Not bad, berry fruit and a slight dusty/savory undercurrent. Nice with pork chop.
