A very good wine, but probably a step down from the Radian & Duvarita pinots from Dragonette. All of the elements are there and it clearly reads as a well made wine from the region but, for me, it lacks a defining characteristic that speaks to the vineyard. I tend to think of it as a barrel selection version of the appellation wine... which is quite good. All that said, everyone who had it loved it, so maybe I'm being overly critical.

Day 1 - Central Coast Tastings (Central Coast - CA): A very clean and expressive wine. Had a good deal of red fruits, spice notes and some brown sugar. Palate was super clean with precise red fruits and floral notes. A very good pinot, although it did lack that second gear I was looking for.

The aromatic here was less expressive than that of the 2011 SRH pinot, which I tasted right before it. I found the F/Stix to be more polished, rounder, better depth than that wine, with black cherry, blackberry and loam, even a gamey note. I just enjoyed the rugged, more pronounced features of the 2011 SLH just a bit better.

Ripe cherry and raspberry fruit flavors on the palate. Hint of spice on the finish. Not very complex but a good easy drinker.
