Big, bold and boozy! Wow! I was a bit scared to open this one as it was way overdue, but this bottle ended up being a gem. At the first sip it was a rush of intensity and complexity, wasn't sure what to think...very woodsy and oaky. Like a punch in the face. So, I let it breath and decant for 30minutes before returning to it. Oak still remains as an initial impression but settled down having breathed. Dark berries, vanilla and cherries fill the palette at first sip. Spice and a bit of grass and cedar in the middle. Finish is long and a bit acidic. Overall a nicely rounded big red considering it being a Merlot. I feel it may be bigger and louder than a California Cab. Wow! This one blew me away after all this time in the cellar.

Color is light, Koolaid light, fruit and alcohol on the nose, jammy with a sticky mouthfeel. Super sweet without any oak or complexity. Too sweet to pair with food. Shame that a Bordeaux grape would be treated this way.

Nice merlot with dark berries and a hint of olive on the nose. The palate featured dark fruit and a little vanilla oak with fairly good structure too. Seemed like a wine to enjoy in the short-term as not sure this one would hold much charm without its primary fruit.
