8th of 12, drunk over 3 nights, showing as per March 14 note below, a rich, almost creamy (old vines) wine for the vintage, black rather than red fruit more evident, attractive note of spice, nice lifting acidity well covered by fruit, good life ahead. Very fine (18.5/20).
This threw a good amount of sediment. Bricking at the edge. Clear ruby color. Aromas of cherries and strawberries that come through in the taste along with plum pudding and nicely spiced tannins suggesting cloves. Balanced and thoroughly supple, this Charmes has excellent length and drinks well, if a little light bodied for a Grand Cru.
Fifth bottle of case, drunk over two days, mid browny red, attractive nose, red fruit driven, nicely fresh, med, long and persistent, attractive fruit, particularly good on first day, style of vintage to my taste so long as enough fruit for intrinsic acidity to lift as in this case, fully mature but no rush to drink as should gain more complexity. Fine (17.5/20).
