Such a delightful wine. Still think I prefer the 2011 for its added lift, body and vibrant fruit but this s no slouch. Served with eggplant parmigiana and the acidity of the wine is a fine match for the tomato sauce and pungent eggplant.
Pretty, pretty wine. Really nice light fruit of cherry and strawberries, yet buttressed by good acidity and length. Reminds me of a pinot or gamay. Though fruit forward, not overbearing and still get the terroir of sicily. Really enjoyed, easy drinking but not boring. Great QPR. Would buy more.
Just when I think ive tasted most red varietals I come across another. Pretty naive of me. In this case it's a nerello mascalese.Said to have the DNA of a sangiovese...and 10 other italian varietals(!)...it has a light body, soft tannins, noticeable acidity, and a light strawberry and cherry nose. The finish is medium. Like most Italian wines, this goes best with food a la sangiovese. Nice!
