My Grade: VG+. First of the 2012 Bdx's, this is very delicious and easy-drinking. Ready now, but should improve over the next 2-3 years. Dark, dusty mauve in the glass. Nose has menthol, candied blackcurrant and blackberry, vanilla, charcoal. Palate is smooth with juicy, mouth-filling black fruit, some residual sugar, very fine tannins, very well balanced acidity, somewhat hollow mid-palate, medium-length, sour-berry finísh, lacks the structure for long aging. A welcome sign that good wines can be had for shorter-term drinking from the '12 vintage (see my profile for grades).
Tour des Deux Rives 2016 San Francisco, nose of rich cinnamon, blackberry, black cherry, and oak, same on the palate, lovely fruit with mouth filling taste, will peak in 18 months or probably enjoyable with a one hour decant, medium body, long finish.
