Enjoyed at dinner in Hong Kong. Not bad, but not great. Relatively nondescript Bordeaux. Vintage and storage are likely contributing factors. Could not do formal notes at the business dinner.

Opened the night before. At first impression the nose was quite burgundian. Barnyard, roasted cocoa, cassis, autumnal foliage. The day after the nose was much more fruit forward with still cassis, lush blackberries, preserved cherries, violets and precious woods. Graphite and tobacco with areation provide a good complexity. Mouthwatering acidity with fairly good structure even with a very delicate approach. Seamless. Very fruity on the palate with hints of cocoa, liquorice, tobacco, and a nice minerality and earthiness. It will improve with 3/4 years but really drinkable and pleasurable at 10 years now. 12.5 % makes it a real velvet, with noble tannins. Really nice Pauillac but i believe it will develop the Pauillac’s caratheristics with more time.

Decanted one hour. Ripe cherry, cranberry, creme de cassis. Velvety smooth mouth full. Surprisingly resolved tannins. Good acidity, though could use perhaps a touch more to send the wine over the top. Given the relatively modest acidity and tannin at this young age, I wonder about its long-term potential. Nonetheless, drinking quite well right now.

Like ripe chilean wine. In structure and on the nose.

Decanted for 2-3 hours. Still fairly youthful, no tertiary notes yet, went well with a steak.
