This is surprisingly good. No signs of tiredness, vibrant blackcurrant, cigar, truffle and cigar notes. Rich, rounded palate, very well structured and controlled, everything in place. Great winemaking, just lacks a little soul?

Drank three bottles with friends at Le Tertre restaurant in St Emilion. Enjoyable wine and a very enjoyable evening overall. Plum, chocolate and mineral notes. Very smooth and drinking well now.

2017 Grands Crus Classes of St. Emilion, nose of red cherry, raspberry, plum, and floral notes, same on the palate, medium body, enjoy the next nine years, tasty, rich and mouth filling fruit, and a long finish.

Quite glossy and relatively international in style. Well made, but lacking anything that says St Emilion to me. Relatively full despite the lighter vintage, but supple and ripe tannins, and very drinkable now even without food (though perhaps a little boring). Decent enough. ***
