Opened 1 hour ahead. Black fruit on the nose. Well balanced, medium bodied. Very correct but not as much complexity as I hoped for. Should last several years but wouldn't count on improvement. 91 points.

I bought 3 2011 library release Abeja wines, I've rated a Syrah, a Merlot, and now this Cab Sauv. 4.1 stars. Liked this one the best of the 3 and the one with more life ahead of it. Chocolate, blackberry, oak, cherry, tobacco. I've also learned I prefer the younger Abeja wines over these with age. They seem to lose some fruit without adding many tertiary flavors.

Opened and decanted a half hour ahead of greasy pulled pork cubanos and pickled fixings. Consistent with previous notes but rounding out nicely. Strong lavender, spring violets, grape hard candy, grape menthol, and wild herbs on the nose. The palate is full, square, textured, and juicy, bringing loads of black currant, boysenberries, blackberries, blueberry cobbler, huckleberries, chocolate cherries, tobacco leaf, and coffee into a 30-45 second finish. Only ding is that I found it slightly too extracted, hot, and woody for my palate, but this is nevertheless well-made and carries its weight. Drink 2020-2024. Technical score: 93. Enjoyment score: 91.
