Community Tasting Notes (2) Avg Score: 75 points

  • Powerful tropical, banana filled nose. Big and ripe, full of sweet tropical fruit but not too overblown. Still a fair amount of freshness and a creamy vanilla finish.

  • 85% aged in stainless steel, 15% in oak. Surprisingly high in acidity according to the analysis, 7,2 g/l!

Pale green color. Somewhat restrained and quite tropical fruit-driven nose with aromas of pineapple and some peach, with an undercurrant of stuffy, toasty oak that strips the nose of its freshness and gives it a musty, woolly character. On the palate the wine feels rather sweet and heavy with overripe, tropical fruit flavors, light spicy notes of oak, a hint of woody nuttiness and a faint but stuffy, sweaty note. Despite its apparently high acidity, the wine feels over-concentrated, fat and dull with modest-to-low acidity. This feels more like vinous marmalade than anything related to wine. The finish is more acid-driven than the midpalate, yet still without any noticeable freshness. There are flavors apple, some spicy oak, a little vanilla and an overripe hint of sweet, mushy apricot in the aftertaste. The finish is medium in length and rather dull in character.

This drinks like tropical fruit marmalade with a dull, stuffy oak character making it rather unenjoyable. No freshness, no structure, just vague, overripe Chardonnay fruit without any character or sense of place. Unless that "lack of sense of place" is the sense of place for Chile? Horrible stuff. Bears very little resemblance to any well-made Chardonnay. A rip-off at 10,90€.
