Big zin. Coffee, leather, wood, smooth tannins, nice big body... but no fruit. 16.5% ABV snuck up on me -- doesn't drink hot at all. I won't miss the 2011 vintage, that's for sure.

Wonderful nose of blueberry, vanilla, black berries and more. Firm taste of black berries, vanilla, wood and some alcohol. In my opinion this wine is great.

Our favorite zinfandel. Changes a little bit, year to year, based on how much pollen from nearby eucalyptus tress falls on grapes and remains there through picking and processing. Gives the wine a unique character. Full bodied, jammy, smooth with no cloying aftertaste. We are NOT fans of higher tannin wines (cabernet, merlot, etc.), we are "into" pinot noir, zin, syrah, mouvedre, and other lower-tannin reds.

Nice aromas of blackberry and anise effectively hide the 16.5% alcohol. The palate is packed with sweet dark berries, cracked pepper spice and ample tannin. I'm letting my remaining bottles sit for a few years.
