Decanted and tasted over 6 hours. Perfect fill, although the cork crumbled at open. The nose was great out of the bottle, but this wine was pretty "flat" most of the night, and never really expressed itself the way other bottles have. As in previous tastings of it I still find it hard to place as Burgundy. Not a bad wine at all, just wasn't expressing itself tonight. B+/A-

First of the case. This fill was a bit lower and some run up to the top of the cork on all sides. Medium red/brick red with age showing in the glass. This was expressive on the nose at opening but fairly closed up on the palate for about 2 hours. At 2 hours it started opening up to show dark red fruit and game. The nose and palate were both great but more Northern Rhone than Burgundy - this could be mistaken for a Guigal Cote Rotie. But nonetheless, great fun drinking tonight. Day 2 the rest of the bottle was holding up great, felt a bit more Burgundian, and continued to be great fun to drink. A

decanted for 90 mins on saturday nt and tried a glass, good but a little big and somewhat primary (for a 16 year old burg), then back into decanter as the Super Bowl started and drank over three hours... soooo good, smooth velvety mouthfeel with great purplish fruits and beautiful xmas spices, gentle acid, moderate minerals, just a really classy, med plus bodied pinot which you could argue is on the new world side of the burgundy spectrum but with all the beautiful elegance and terroir of burgundy

Two '99 Clos de Bèze: I planned to serve this wine blind at a tasting dinner. My friend agreed to bring his Jadot so that we could compare the two Clos de Bèze. Decanted five hours before tasting, which it needed. Deep, impenetrable colour. It breathed up well displaying aromas of dark berries, dark soil and black spice. Rich, powerful and concentrated on palate. Vibrant with good acidity. Savoury and earthy on palate, also showing dark berries, spices and a touch of creosote. The Bouchard did not clearly show its Gevrey terroir (with tasters not initially picking the village). There was oak present but it was well integrated. Suave, fine grained tannins. Showing no secondary nuances. Drinking well now, but there is absolutely no hurry needed here. I, and most in the room, preferred this wine to the Jadot. I plan to hold my other bottle for at least five more years.

(Bouchard Père et Fils Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze) Not a domaine owned vineyard, but the same supplier of grapes used for many years. Medium colour again. The nose is deep with some barrel toast evident, but not giving much more away. The palate is very round and tannic, but the tannins are finely grained. Lovely depth of concentrated fruit. Actually a very forward and drinkable wine here. Very lovely.

Heritage 2016 Blind Wine Tasting Challenge - BYO Dinner (Jean Georges Steakhouse - ARIA - Las Vegas NV): Small glass, brief note. Spice driven start with black and red fruit. Very good aromatic start, but more restrained flavors, seemingly somewhat shut down right now. would have benefited from more air. 92 point potential, but not at that pleasure level tonight.
