  • Not exactly sure how to describe what we have here. I don't have enough experience with white Burgundy to know how this stacks up with others from this area or at this price point. So, just describe what we smell and taste. The color is a rich and deep gold. The nose is not very enticing with a hint of diesel among baking spices and Christmas spices, but it would take some imagination to find any fruit to describe. The palate is considerably more fruity than the nose, starting with liquid lemon zest and on to some tangerine spiced with ginger. Did not pick up much oak when first poured at refrigerator temperature, but some noticeable French oak appears as it warms in the glass. This wine is very wet shale and mineral orientated. There is a waxy, lanolin coating on the roof of the mouth. Sipping and trying to describe this wine is not very fun. The package comes to life at the front of the finish when that waxy feeling on the roof of the mouth meets some emerging citrus and orchard fruit with splendid acidity that miraculously results in an entirely desirable wine that gets better with each sip.
