  • For our 16th anniv....super 97! Love this wine....soft and creamy with dancing tiny bubbles....nice ginger butter cream, lemon meringue mousse, yeast dough....pure texture, plenty of sea air minerality, citrus oil....so delicate and subtle, complex...especially next to the Krug mv.....killer stuff!

  • Medium-deep yellow color. Aromas of sweet apple, lemon, custard, nuts and bread. Palate is sweetly fruited with apple and lemon curd notes that carry into a vanilla, nut, and nougat finish that is long. This bottle is the first to show better integration of the new wood and was a delight to drink through the meal. Delicious. Drink or hold.

  • The Usual Suspects...a new tradition; 3/22/2013-3/24/2013 (Lucerne Inn): FROM MAGNUM:
    Color: light golden yellow
Smell: Stone fruits, pear, quince, green banana, fresh bread
Taste: Meyer lemon, chalk, quince, and mineral notes
Overall: Extraordinary! Words simply cannot do this wine justice. This wine was glorious, mind-bending, and is something I would LOVE to have a chance to taste again. Well worth seeking out if you can find this still.

  • A sublime magnum that was delicate enough for seafood appetizers and stood up well with a peppered tuna steak. It was the only wine in recent memory that spewed an aroma several feet away from the bottle (bread dough, citrus). It was good from the first sip (strong citrus) to the last (citrus, creamy, and a hint of cinnamon). If I get another magnum, I'll wait more patiently to drink it as every sip was a facinating evolution. Powerful, balanced...what a wonderful way to celebrate the end of the Mayan calendar and the great run of Kinkead's seafood restaurant.

  • Warm, golden yellow color, relatively big and full-flavored (ginger, yeast, warm bread) but IMO not the least flabby or too oaky. A great wine especially if you like the Vilmart style.
