What an experience to drink one of these in great condition and at peak. Lovely nose that still has lots of fruit notes, lemon, herbs, limen, and minerals. It's showing tertiary notes but continued to improve throughout the night and started to show a bit of creamy notes. Great acidity on the palate with precision, more lemon flavors, a bit of hay, and rocks. Long and lingering finish. Beautiful wine, this is how aged Chardonnay should taste. I particularly liked the balance between subtleness, weight, and power. The only minor things to criticize is that it could have a bit more depth, maybe that's reserved for the Grand Crus...

My second of two bottles, and both have performed excellently, and the wine seems to have a few years of life left. Taste profile is as per previous note. It probably lends itself to drink with food to bring out its best.

Drinking at its peak, this is a delight. Crisp and buttery, it is everything you would want in a top Montrachet. A couple of hours in the decanter seemed to help, and based on this bottle it should still have a good few years left at this level.

After 30 minutes of air, this was drinking very well. Fully mature. Exceptional structure. Fruit present but restrained. It tasted . . . like an excellent Clavoillon. Wish I had more bottles; I don't think it's going to improve from here, but this should last another few years.

(Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet "Clavaillon") Tight fruit and serious structure here. Touch lean right now but the tightly coiled fruit wrapped in mineral was promising and started to show some explosiveness with some air in the glass. One of the tighter '96's I have had recently but enormous potential. Love to check this out in 10 years. Long, very detailed finish of mineral, apple and spice.

DJCV bottle. Lacking the vivacity and depth of the Pucelles but still striking. Riper and broader than expected. Lovely.
