  • From a magnum purchased at release. Might be a couple years past its peak but still quite enjoyable. Deep gold center with clear rim. Started
with over ripe fruit but with air it opened up, revealing lemon curd, almond, minerality, with hits of toasted sourdough. Longish finish, still some acidity giving this bottle some life. Enjoyable in larger format but drink-up.

  • Dark gold. Rotten fruit.

  • Pre-moxed, but not so much as to make it undrinkable. Good minerality. Paired very well with butter poached lobster. Drink up.

  • My last bottle from the POR batch. This wine had light gold center and clear rims. True to form, this bottle was different from the others I have tasted (please see my prior notes). The nose had a overripe, dried fruit quality that declined over time but never went away. I could also discern more typical lemon and baguette flavors.

In the beginning the mouth also seemed a bit overripe or premox. It firmed up with air and developed nice length. It also showed nice richness and acidic balance. However, this appeared to be at its peak.

    Drink up!

  • From the same batch purchased upon release, this wine had a yellow center and clear rims. The medium intensity nose featured apple, citrus, and some oak.

In the mouth, this wine was medium bodied with crisp acidity and good length. While not particularly complex, it did not show any of the super-ripe tropical fruit flavors. This bottle was still too young and was a bit oaky for my taste.

It seems fair to conclude that this wine has some bottle variation.
