Popped and slow ox'd for about 2 hours. Bright ruby color in the glass. Sweet aromatics of raspberry, floral notes, baking spices, vanilla and some candied red fruits. Similar flavors on the palate with a mix of sweet and tart red fruit flavors and a bit of creamy oak. Medium acid and low to medium tannin. Smooth mouthfeel and nice finish. Not the most complex pinot but quite tasty and enjoyable.
Compared to the Donum 2009 Thomas of the same night, this seemed quite restrained. Still, a great nose of cherry and clove, with earthy tones as well. When tasted, this hits the palate with a burst of red fruit. The finish brings in the spice and tobacco tones I picked up on the nose. A little more time might serve to integrate this wine better - but very enjoyable right now.
