Opened for several hours before decanting. Mature wine with good tannic backbone but little fruit on palate. Medium-bodied old-style Pomerol - we were surprised that it was drinking so well for its age. If we had more (sadly not) we would drink up but certainly not over the hill. Overall, a good wine but not outstanding.
Had this with Steve, Jen and Traci for dinner. Roast Chicken/steak & brussel sprouts. Nice red color with some bricking/orange on the edge. Hard one to figure out and I should have decanted it longer but I wasn't sure what to expect. Muted nose but finally revealed some black currant, tobacco and maybe some soft plum/cherry smells. Really nice mouthfeel and nice body. Medium/full bodied with plenty of glycerol. Nice mid palate, great balance and silky smooth. Nice but short finish. Kept getting better as the evening went on but the bottle ran out. Still not much complexity but good stuff.
The wine was very smooth with all most no tannis. It had a great nose of berries, very little oak and a moderate finish. Medium bodied but still looked young. It was lightening a little on the edges but not much. I think that it will probably not improve much more although I don’t think extra age will hurt it. Overall I thought it was excellent. Had it both times with Traci at dinner with steaks.
