Pedernales Cellars is giving Texas wine a good name. Finally dialing in the right varietals and techniques. I'll buy this again. Good fruit with solid structure - which Texas wines have been missing.

Very dark color. Nose of dried fruit, mushrooms, and a touch of leather. Had an off smell at first that quickly dissapated. Flavors are primarily dried fruit with a touch of green bell pepper. Not complex. Tannins are well integrated. A pleasant bottle but should be decanted to get it past its funk.

Color is ruby red and not fully opaque. Bouquet displays earthy mushrooms, green bell pepper and some leather. Some off-notes that began to fade with time in the glass. The palate is relatively light-bodied and shows sweet prune and blood orange. The acidity is well integrated with medium tannins. Not a lot of complexity, but an easy drinking wine that will probably show decently over the next few years. The off-notes on the nose keep it from being great. If I didn't know better I probably would have mistaken this for a new world pinot noir.

Nice wine, bottle disappeared quickly over a mid-week dinner. Liked it a bit more than the 2009.
