Our final bottle. Double decanted off its sediment and served shortly thereafter. Slight bricking. Currant, leather, cherry and peppery spice. Medium-bodied. Raspberry, cherry, spice and rosemary flavors. Lingering finish.

Double decanted off its sediment an hour before service. A very fine bottle showing notes of dried raspberry, pomegranate, cherry, rosemary and pine sap. Flavors of red berry fruit, sap, and peppery spice with a lingering finish. The acidity stands out a bit on its own, but is balanced out when paired with dinner. A terrific showing from our penultimate bottle. 92+ pts.

Popped and poured. I do enjoy This style of zin- lighter and much less ripe, never raisiny or pruney. Cherry and currants with pepper and spice undertones. Elegant for a zin. At peak IMO.

4th Saturday Brown Bagger (M&R's): Blind. Opens with aromas of cherry and sweet tea. With time in the glass this develops ripe red cherry fruit and orange Life Saver aromas and flavors. Picks up white pepper qualities on the palate and the fruit remains fresh and vibrant. In a great place right now.

Montelena’s zin ages beautifully, and ten years is rarely a problem. We find 9-12 years to be a sweet spot for our palates. Decanted off its sediment and served shortly thereafter. Light crimson color with notes of red plum, currant, pepper, blueberry and licorice. On the lighter side of medium-bodied. Flavors of cherry and red berry fruit and white pepper. Lovely. 91 pts for both Domino and me.
